The Election Commission reported that 33 political parties have submitted their income and expenditure statements for the last fiscal year, while 89 parties, including major ones like Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, are yet to file.
Parties must maintain accurate financial records and submit audited reports within six months of the fiscal year’s end. The Commission can inspect accounts anytime, and non-compliant parties must provide a written explanation within 35 days. Submitted reports are made public within a month.
This step ensures accountability and transparency in Nepal’s political system.
