Former Kathmandu CDO Questioned in Gen Z Protest Probe

Former Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Rizal has been questioned by the high-level commission investigating the Gen Z protests. The sessions took place at Singh Durbar on Mangsir 17–18.

Rizal, who was CDO during the Bhadau 23–24 protests that left several teenagers dead in Baneshwor, faced criticism for allegedly ordering police to open fire. The backlash had led to his photos being removed from the Kathmandu District Administration Office website.

A commission member said Rizal’s statement is nearly complete, with a few questions remaining, and he will be called again on Friday. Previously, the commission recorded statements from around 150 officials, including APF Chief Narayan Datt Poudel and former NID head Hutaraj Thapa.
