Western System Brings Rain, Snow to Several Provinces

Nepal is currently under the influence of a western low-pressure system. Because of this, the weather is mostly cloudy in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

In the rest of the country, the weather is partly cloudy. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division, light rain and snowfall are taking place in some mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

This afternoon, the mountainous regions are expected to remain partly cloudy. There is a chance of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning in a few places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in one or two places in other mountainous regions. Light rain with thunder and lightning may also occur in one or two places in the hilly areas of these provinces.

Tonight, the mountainous areas of Gandaki and Karnali provinces are likely to remain mostly cloudy. The hilly and Tarai areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will see partly cloudy weather, while the weather in other areas is expected to remain mostly clear.

The Division has also said that there is a chance of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces during the night.
