On Monday, the second trading day of the week, the stock market closed lower. After gains in the previous two days, the market declined on this day.
The NEPSE index fell by 26.07 points to close at 2,798.83. On the same day, the Sensitive Index dropped by 6.38 points, the Float Index by 2.07 points, and the Sensitive Float Index by 2.10 points.
Trading volume also decreased. While the market recorded transactions worth NPR 1.432 billion on Sunday, on Monday, 345 stocks were traded 102,759 times, amounting to NPR 1.197 billion for 30.79 million shares.
Shares of Salpa Development Bank, Reliance Spinning Mills, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company, and Solu Hydropower Company hit the positive circuit limit. Hotel Forest Inn shares rose by nearly 10%, while People's Hydropower Company shares increased by 6.5%.
Based on trading value, Aankhukhola Hydropower Company led the market with shares worth NPR 687.7 million traded. National Hydropower Company recorded over NPR 660 million, and Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company traded more than NPR 415 million in shares.
Among the 13 subgroups, only the Production & Processing subgroup index increased, while the remaining 12 subgroups declined. Banking, Investment, and other subgroup indices fell by more than 1%.
