Chairperson of the Janamat Party, C. K. Raut, has announced that he is taking a break from parliamentary politics. Raut made the announcement through a statement posted on his social media platform Facebook.
However, he said he would continue his political struggle despite stepping away from parliamentary politics. In the statement, he wrote, “Even though I am retiring from parliamentary politics, I will continue the politics of struggle. I will keep leading the party as long as it needs my leadership.”
Raut also claimed that he had contested parliamentary elections twice against his personal wishes. He said that during the 2022 Nepal general election, he had initially planned not to run as a candidate but wanted to guide the party through the election successfully as its founding chairperson.
“I contested parliamentary elections twice against my personal desire—won once and lost once. But I am happy with both decisions to participate in the elections,” he said.
Similarly, he mentioned that he had been certain about not contesting the 2026 Nepal House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21. However, he said he eventually decided to run at the last moment to maintain the morale of party members and supporters.
“I had already decided not to contest the 2082 election while looking for the right moment to step away from parliamentary and positional politics,” he said, adding that he now feels it was the right decision to run after listening to the advice of colleagues.
