Weather Forecasting Division reported that Kathmandu’s temperature early this morning was 9.0 degrees Celsius, measured at 5:45 am.
At the same time on Sunday, the temperature was slightly higher at 9.1 degrees Celsius. It stayed the same when checked again at 8:45 am. Today’s official minimum temperature will also be recorded at 8:45 am, and it could drop a little more by then.
In the past few days, the temperature has been changing. It was 7.5 degrees Celsius on Saturday, which was colder, while on Friday it was warmer at 12 degrees Celsius.
Meteorologists say that when the sky is cloudy at night, the morning temperature is usually higher. But if the sky is clear all night, the morning becomes colder. During the day, it is the opposite. If the sky is cloudy, the daytime temperature goes down. If it is clear and sunny, the temperature rises.
Even though temperatures change from day to day, experts say that overall it is slowly getting warmer as winter comes to an end.
The Division measures temperatures across the country every day, including in Kathmandu. The minimum temperature, which shows how cold it is at night and early morning, is officially recorded at 8:45 am. The maximum temperature, which shows how warm it gets during the day, is recorded at 5:45 pm.
