CPN-UML Secretary and Bhaktapur-2 candidate Mahesh Basnet has blamed political instability for the rise of corruption and the failure to maintain good governance in the country.
Speaking at a UML election program, Basnet said weak and divided parties fail to secure a majority, leading to instability, corruption, and governance failures. He also criticized the misuse of social media through “social media farming” and “news farming,” which he said has deepened public frustration.
Basnet noted that elections are proceeding despite these challenges, with all parties participating. Referring to the events of Bhadra 23 and 24, he said society remains shaken. He emphasized that CPN-UML is a strong party, actively participating to ensure a firm presence in parliament.
