Chairperson of the CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli, has said that people are ready to do anything to protect and honor their party flag, stating that burning a flag is not a trivial matter.

 

Addressing a regional cadres’ gathering in Bhadrapur, Jhapa Constituency No. 3, on Sunday, Oli said the flag represents the center of ideals and beliefs. He stated that no one has the right to burn what others hold as faith and conviction, alleging that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) had committed a criminal act.

 

Referring to the sun-emblazoned flag as a symbol of UML’s movement, Oli questioned whether anyone has the right to commit an offense against such a reflection of struggle. “Such an insulting act is unacceptable,” he said.

 

Oli claimed that the RSP had begun “unwanted activities” from Damak on the day of nomination filing and alleged that the party resorted to such actions after realizing it would not win the election. He said the flag-burning incident in Dang clearly showed that the RSP was attempting to disrupt the election process.
