The unrest is believed to have been triggered by a confrontation during Durga Puja immersion two days ago. Following the violence, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad called for a 12-hour bandh in Cuttack today.
Reports indicate that eight police officers and 25 civilians were injured as protesters threw stones. Police responded with batons to control the situation.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed regret over the incidents, assuring strict monitoring and legal action against those involved, while urging citizens to remain calm and exercise restraint.
