UML Shifts 11th General Convention Opening to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur

CPN-UML has decided to inaugurate its 11th General Convention at the open ground near Sallaghari, Bhaktapur, on Mangsir 27, citing better space and easier crowd management compared to Kathmandu’s Bhrikutimandap. The party said the earlier venue was too congested and would create traffic complications, prompting the shift. The closed sessions will still take place at the Rastriya Sabha Griha in Kathmandu.

UML had initially planned to hold the convention in Pokhara, but restrictions imposed by the interim government, preventing Chair KP Sharma Oli from leaving the Valley, forced the event back to Kathmandu.

A Secretariat led by General Secretary Shankar Pokharel is handling final preparations. Earlier, the party formed several committees, including representative management, public mobilization, accommodation, food, transport, hospitality, publicity, volunteer, stage management, health, and finance. An Election Coordination Committee headed by Bijay Subba has also been set up to oversee internal election procedures.
