The UK Overseas Committee of the Ujyalo Nepal Party has appealed to voters in Nepal to support the party in the upcoming elections, calling for a “prosperous and result-oriented Nepal.”
In a statement issued on behalf of the Nepali community in the UK, the committee said Nepal stands at a historic turning point, weakened by years of political instability, corruption, unemployment, and youth migration. It argued that traditional parties and old political thinking have failed to lead the country in the right direction, while some self-proclaimed “new” parties lack clear vision and transparency.
The committee claimed that the Ujyalo Nepal Party represents a new political culture focused on delivery, not slogans. It highlighted party leader Kulman Ghising’s track record, particularly his role in ending load-shedding as Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, describing it as a result of strong leadership and good governance.
The party has pledged transparent governance, zero tolerance for corruption, job creation, economic productivity, self-reliance in energy and technology, and reforms in education and health. It also emphasized stronger engagement with the Nepali diaspora, implementation of NRN citizenship, voting rights for overseas Nepalis, and diplomatic efforts to address issues such as equal pensions for retired British Gurkha soldiers.
Calling the election a choice between repeating the past or embracing proven leadership, the committee said, “Your single vote can change the nation’s direction. Let us choose change and light over despair and darkness.”
The UK Overseas Committee was recently formed under the chairmanship of Bhagwan Shrestha.
