The printing of ballot papers for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections on March 5 is now in its final stage.

According to the Election Commission (EC), only the ballot papers for the districts surrounding the Kathmandu Valley are left to be printed. The printing is taking place at Janak Educational Materials Centre in Bhaktapur.

The EC said that ballot papers for 133 constituencies in 63 districts have already been printed. So far, 17,163,000 ballot papers have been completed, said the Commission’s Assistant Spokesperson, Prakash Neupane.

Now, only the remaining districts around the Kathmandu Valley need ballot papers. Printing started on January 6, and it is expected to finish in about three days. The ballot papers that are already printed have been packed, with 15,371 boxes ready so far.

Currently, about 1,000 boxes of ballots are packed every day, and 1.1 to 1.5 million ballot papers are printed daily.

The EC said that a total of 20,323,000 ballot papers are needed for the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) elections. The Commission has also begun sending the printed ballots to 12 constituencies in 10 districts of Karnali Province, including Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet.
