Authorities in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have confirmed a minor incident after debris from an intercepted aerial attack fell from the sky amid rising regional security tensions. Officials said the situation is fully under control and no injuries were reported.

According to the Dubai Media Office, the debris fell after the air defense system successfully intercepted the aerial threat. The statement, shared on social media platform X, clarified that the incident caused only minor effects and that rumors about an incident at Dubai International Airport were false.

The development comes as security tensions have escalated across the Middle East. On Saturday morning, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense reported that the country’s air defense systems intercepted a new aerial attack attempt targeting the strategic Shaybah oil field.

Defense Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said 16 drones launched in four separate waves were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their targets. The drones were reportedly aimed at critical energy infrastructure.

In addition, Saudi air defenses also intercepted a ballistic missile and a cruise missile that were launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj. Another drone flying over eastern Riyadh was also shot down. Authorities noted that this was the third consecutive day that an attack attempt targeted the Al-Kharj area, a major industrial hub located about 80 kilometers from Riyadh.

The attempted strike on the Shaybah oil field was the first since February 28, when regional tensions intensified after the United States and Israel launched a large-scale air campaign against Iran. In response, Iran has reportedly attempted attacks targeting industrial and energy infrastructure across the Gulf region.

The Shaybah oil field, located deep in the Rub’ al-Khali desert, is considered one of Saudi Arabia’s “super-giant” oil fields. Its advanced processing facilities play a key role in supplying natural gas liquids (NGL) for the petrochemical industry.

Within the past 24 hours alone, the UAE reported intercepting more than 125 drones and six ballistic missiles. Saudi Arabia also announced on Friday that it destroyed five missiles aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base, along with multiple drones targeting Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

The attempted attacks have drawn strong criticism from the international community. Both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed concern over the incidents.

At an emergency meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers in Riyadh on March 1, member states affirmed their full right to defend their territory. Later, on March 3, a Saudi cabinet meeting chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized that all necessary measures would be taken to protect the country’s security, citizens, and critical infrastructure.
