Nepal will play its third match in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup today against Australia. This is their final group-stage game after two matches on January 18 and 20.
Nepal lost their first match to Bangladesh by five wickets and their second match to Scotland by one wicket. With hopes of getting their first win, they will try to beat Australia today.
The match will take place in Malaysia and is set to start at 12:15 PM. Nepal is in Group ‘D’ with Bangladesh, Australia, and Scotland. Australia is leading the group with two wins and four points, while Bangladesh and Scotland have two points each. Nepal is at the bottom of the table with no points.
Other groups include Group ‘A’ with Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies, Group ‘B’ with England, Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA, and Group ‘C’ with New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, and Nigeria.
The Nepali team, led by captain Puja Mahato, traveled to Malaysia for the tournament. In their first match, Nepal batted first after losing the toss against Bangladesh but was all out for just 52 runs in 18.2 overs. Bangladesh chased down the target of 53 runs in 13.2 overs with five wickets left.
In their second match against Scotland, Nepal set a target of 74 runs, but Scotland reached it in 18.4 overs, losing nine wickets. If Nepal loses today, they will be eliminated from the tournament.
