The government’s top legal office has reported that most cases handled last year were decided in the state’s favour.
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) on Monday submitted its annual report for FY 2024/25 to President Ramchandra Paudel at Sheetal Niwas. Presented by Attorney General Sabita Bhandari, the report shows that out of 75,165 cases, writs and applications, 66.34 percent were resolved in favour of the government.
The OAG issued mediation orders in 2,612 cases and decided not to prosecute 4,841 individuals. During the year, the office defended the government in 127,409 cases, while filings against the state declined by 3.9 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.
The submission was made in accordance with the constitutional requirement to present an annual report to the Head of State.
