Curfew hours in Parsa have been extended, with the District Administration Office enforcing restrictions from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday.
The curfew was first imposed from Monday evening until Tuesday morning. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said the administration is making efforts to resolve the ongoing dispute but extended the curfew to maintain law and order.
Under the Local Administration Act, 2028, movement, gatherings, rallies, protests, meetings and demonstrations have been strictly prohibited within the curfew zone in Birgunj Metropolitan City. The restricted area covers Bus Park in the east, Sirsiya Bridge in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
CDO Dahal warned that security forces are authorised to take strict action during curfew hours and urged residents not to step outside except for essential needs, and only after coordinating with nearby security personnel. Vehicles providing essential services, however, have been allowed to operate during the curfew period.
