Energy Minister Kulman Ghising has said he will not resign, insisting he is not affiliated with any political party despite growing controversy over his political past.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Ghising maintained that he is currently not a member of any party and has no plan to step down. His statement comes a day after interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki directed ministers involved in party politics to resign from the citizens’ government.

Ghising has previously played an active role in politics, including helping form the Ujyaalo Nepal party, which later merged into the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). He has also participated in party programs and held a senior position within the RSP. However, he dismissed questions over these links, reiterating that he holds no party affiliation at present.

His refusal to resign has fueled debate over ministerial neutrality, as pressure mounts on the prime minister to address the issue.
