The information provided by the President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Dr. Badri KC, states that two Nepali people who had been held hostage by the Ukrainian army for nine months have been rescued.
The two Nepali hostages include 29-year-old Phurba Sherpa from Tehrathum and 39-year-old Sher Sambo Sherpa from Dolakha. Both of them were sent to Ukraine by an education consultancy in New Delhi on a three-month student visa. A broker had made them a fake promise about a job. According to NRNA President Badri KC, after reaching Ukraine, they had been in the MCC detention center in Mykolaiv since last May. On Wednesday, they were taken to Moldova by the Ukrainian army and set free.
With the help of NRNA, they are scheduled to arrive in Kathmandu from Moldova on Friday afternoon via Turkish Airlines, flight number TK274. This information is provided by NRNA.
