Two Killed, Two Injured in School Bus Motorcycle Crash in Gulmi

Two people were killed and two others were injured when a school bus hit a motorcycle in Malika Rural Municipality of Gulmi district on Thursday morning.


The bus, owned by Siddha English Boarding School (Lu Pra 01-00 Kha 0355), was taking students from Ramche to Purkot in Madane Rural Municipality for a picnic. While on the way, it collided with a motorcycle (Lu 9 Pa 8150) coming from the opposite direction.


According to Gulmi District Police Office information officer Ganga Bahadur Saru, the people who died were identified as 36-year-old Basanta Aryal of Malika Rural Municipality-6, Mauwa, and his 56-year-old sister-in-law, Manakala Aryal. Both were riding the motorcycle.


Four people were injured in the accident. Basanta and Manakala were rushed to Gulmi Hospital in Tamghas, where doctors declared them dead.


Those injured include Manakala’s six-year-old grandson, Anubhav Giri, and 41-year-old Lilawati Aryal, a teacher at Jamarpokhara Secondary School, who was walking along the road at the time. Giri has been referred to Palpa for further treatment, while Lilawati is being treated at Gulmi Hospital, police said.
