Three-Day Trek To Begin Today

A three-day trek along the historical Nisan Trekking Route began today to promote tourism in Ilam. 

The 42-km trek traces the path of the military insignias hoisted after the conquest of eastern Nepal during the unification, ending at Maisthan Temple in Ilam. The trek starts from Mechi River near the Nepal-India border, and participants will visit locations in Suryodaya Municipality, Maijogmai Rural Municipality, and Ilam Municipality. 

Local leaders and the Nepal Army are optimistic that the trek will boost tourism and preserve the region’s historical, cultural, and religious heritage. The Nisan insignia is currently housed in Maisthan Temple.
