UNESCO recognized world heritage site, Boudhanath Stupa is not only one of the largest stupas in the world but also a deeply spiritual and culturally rich site. Believed to grant wishes, many visitors walk clockwise around the stupa, spinning prayer wheels for good karma.

But beside that did we knew that it’s full of hidden meanings! The giant dome represents the universe, and the eyes on the tower? They’re Buddha’s “wisdom eyes,” watching over everything with compassion. That squiggly mark below the eyes? It’s not a nose—it’s the Nepali number “1,” reminding us we’re all connected on the same path to enlightenment.

It’s a major hub for Tibetan Buddhism, where monks chant mantras, and its architecture reflects Buddhist philosophy with 108 niches around the structure, symbolizing the path to enlightenment. Despite being damaged in the 2015 earthquake, the stupa was quickly restored, showcasing resilience and unity. By night, its glow from butter lamps and candles creates a serene, magical atmosphere, leaving visitors in awe.
