Simara in Bara district remains tense as protests continue for the second day following clashes between CPN-UML supporters and Gen-Z youth. The unrest, which began on Wednesday, prompted the District Administration Office to impose a curfew to prevent further escalation.
On Thursday morning, Gen-Z activists set tires on fire at Simara Chowk, demanding the arrest of UML leaders and cadres alleged to have assaulted them.
The curfew is in effect from 1 PM to 8 PM, covering a 500-meter radius around Simara Airport, the Pathlaiya–Jeetpur road section, and the stretch from Pathlaiya Chowk to Jeetpur Lalka Bridge along the Birgunj–Pathlaiya highway. All gatherings, rallies, meetings, and sit-ins are prohibited during this period.
Essential services, including ambulances, fire trucks, hearses, health workers, media personnel, tourist vehicles, diplomatic vehicles, and passengers with valid flight tickets, are allowed under security supervision, the administration said.
