The cooperative fraud and organized crime case involving Rastriya Swatantra Party chief Rabi Lamichhane and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi is scheduled for a hearing today.

Both accused had received approval from the High Court Tulsipur–Butwal last week to bring the original case file from the Rupandehi District Court. According to High Court deputy registrar Yagyamurti Gyawali, the file has now reached the court, and the bench for the hearing will be assigned through the lottery system.

Lamichhane had already deposited the amount attributed to his share of the alleged mismanagement in the cooperative. However, the Rupandehi District Court had denied his release on August 10. He then moved to the High Court on August 25, challenging the decision.

The court had ordered that the cases of both Lamichhane and Joshi be heard together. With today’s hearing scheduled, legal teams are preparing for arguments. Lamichhane is currently in Nakkhu Prison, while Joshi is held in Bhairahawa.
