Oli Criticizes Government, Says Durga Prasai’s Arrest Aims to Hide Its Own Failures

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has criticized the government for arresting Durga Prasai, alleging that the move was intended to divert attention from the government’s own issues.

At an event in Chyasal on Wednesday, Oli questioned the manner of Prasai’s late-night arrest, calling it unnecessarily forceful and inappropriate. He argued that even the National Human Rights Commission has raised concerns, suggesting that the government should not keep him detained under such circumstances.

Oli also remarked that instead of responding to the allegations made by Prasai in his video, the government chose to detain him—an approach he believes will not resolve the matter. He urged the authorities to address the issues raised rather than attempting to silence critics.
