Officials have said that six workers were killed and five others injured in an explosion inside a steel plant in India’s central state of Chhattisgarh. The explosion occurred at a steel plant located in Bakulahi village of Balodabazar–Bhatapara district, around 101 kilometers northeast of Raipur, the state capital.

 

According to officials, the explosion took place in the plant’s dust settling chamber, causing hot dust to fall on the workers present there, leaving them severely burned. Eyewitnesses told authorities that the blast triggered panic inside the plant, with workers seen running out to save their lives amid thick smoke and flames.

 

Officials have ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.
