Senior Forest Officer Caught Taking Bribe in Kailali

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Purna Shankar Yadav, a senior forest officer working at the Division Forest Office in Dhangadhi, Kailali, on bribery charges.

According to the CIAA, Yadav was caught red-handed on Monday evening by a team from its Kanchanpur office with Rs 731,000 in cash. He had reportedly asked for the bribe from people in return for helping release documents related to the Gwasi Community Forest in Chure Rural Municipality–6 and for approving a request to build a wooden fence.

CIAA spokesperson Rajendra Kumar Poudel confirmed the arrest and said that further investigation is underway.
