The government is preparing to fully operate the Security Printing Press to print vital documents such as citizenship certificates, national ID cards, driving licenses, stamps, and official labels within the country. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung announced this while addressing a CPN (UML) event in Bagmati Province on Thursday. He said the move will reduce dependence on foreign printing and improve national data security.
Minister Gurung also promised to upgrade 4G internet services across Nepal within the next year. Highlighting the importance of digital access, he said improving connectivity is a top priority for the ministry. This effort aims to boost communication, education, and innovation in both urban and rural areas.
On the party side, Gurung—who is also the deputy general secretary of CPN (UML)—shared that the party is planning to hold its general convention a year before the 2084 elections. He stressed the need for internal reform, urging party leaders to put aside personal interests and end right-wing opportunism. “Our principles are strong, but unity and discipline are needed to move forward,” he added.
