The installation of seats has begun at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground in Kirtipur as part of a larger project to upgrade the stadium to international standards. The development work, which started in the Nepali month of Falgun, aims to prepare the stadium for hosting international matches and also make it suitable for night games.
In the first phase of the project, a parapet is being constructed with a seating capacity of 10,000 spectators. Additionally, eight floodlights are being installed to allow matches to be played after dark.
According to Sunil Shah, an engineer from BZ Construction, colorful seats in yellow, white, grey, green, blue, and orange will be placed in the parapet. The parapet is divided into eight sections—six on the west side and two on the east. Each section will have 652 seats.
