The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Saturday released a six-point election manifesto ahead of the March 5 House of Representatives polls, promising major changes to Nepal’s governance and constitution.
At a programme in Kathmandu, Chairperson Rajendra Lingden presented the party’s “Commitment Document,” offering an alternative vision that challenges the federal republican system set up after 2008.
The RPP aims to build a strong, prosperous Nepal, focusing on economic growth, education, healthcare, social security, youth employment, sustainable development, and technology. The party targets making Nepal a middle-income country by 2030.
On national issues, the RPP plans a security policy to protect Nepal’s independence, unity, and cultural heritage. The party also wants to reinstate Nepal as a Hindu state while ensuring religious freedom and ending caste discrimination.
The manifesto proposes major institutional changes: restoring a constitutional monarchy, reforming the electoral system, abolishing provinces, and creating a two-tier government with empowered local bodies. It also suggests non-party local governments to simplify governance.
Through this platform, the RPP positions itself as pro-monarchy and anti-federal, offering an alternative amid debates on political instability, high governance costs, and identity politics.
