Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, who surrendered at Tihar Jail in connection with cheque dishonour cases, has received support from actors Gurmeet Choudhary and Sonu Sood.

Rajpal surrendered on February 5. Expressing his support through a heartfelt message on social media platform X, Gurmeet wrote that the senior and highly talented actor is going through a difficult time and pledged to stand by him as a fellow artist and human being. He also urged producers, directors, and colleagues in the film industry to come together with compassion and humanity to find a solution. “Our industry is a family, and a family never abandons its own,” he stated.

Before going to jail, Rajpal had shared an emotional video on Instagram, revealing that he was facing a serious financial crisis. His statement drew various reactions from fans and members of the film fraternity.

Meanwhile, actor Sonu Sood also announced that he would offer Rajpal a role in his upcoming film and provide financial support in the form of a signing amount. He clarified that this was not charity but an effort to preserve the dignity of a fellow artist. “A small signing amount is not a donation, it is respect. The industry should not let its members feel alone in difficult times,” Sonu wrote.

Earlier, the Delhi High Court had rejected Rajpal’s final attempt to avoid imprisonment in multiple cheque dishonour cases and ordered him to surrender. The court noted that he had repeatedly violated payment commitments and directed him to surrender by February 4. Although his lawyer claimed that an agreement had been reached to deposit ₹2.5 million immediately and pay the remaining amount in installments, the court refused to grant relief.

After the judge made it clear that no hearing would take place unless he surrendered, Rajpal turned himself in at Tihar Jail on February 5. The court stated that he could file an appropriate plea in accordance with the law after surrendering.
