The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has decided to improve and manage transportation properly to solve the ongoing problem of cooking gas shortage.
In recent days, consumers have been facing difficulties due to irregular supply of cooking gas. After noticing the problem, the Department has asked Nepal Oil Corporation to take immediate steps to make gas transportation easier and more effective. It has also given strict instructions to major gas companies.
The Department has directed gas bottling industries operating inside the Kathmandu Valley to increase production and distribution according to public demand. Industries have been told to run at full capacity to ensure enough supply in the market.
Similarly, LP gas dealers, retailers, and supplier companies have been instructed to keep proper records of consumer demand and distribute gas fairly, so that no one can store gas unnecessarily or create artificial shortage.
The Department has also requested consumers and business owners to buy only the amount of gas they need and not panic-buy.
The Department said it is closely monitoring the entire supply process, from production and storage to distribution, in both big companies and small dealers, to ensure gas is available in the market.
