Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has alleged that individuals “rejected by history through the Nepali people’s revolution” are attempting to prevent the upcoming elections.

Speaking at an election message program organized by the NCP Dolakha–Kathmandu Contact Election Mobilization Committee on Saturday, Prachanda urged party cadres not to be misled by claims that elections will not be held. He called on them to move ahead with firm preparation.

He stated that three political tendencies are currently confronting each other in the country — one that suppresses peaceful protests with violence, another that promotes destruction and instability, and the NCP, which he said stands against both. He added that the public would not accept “murderous and destructive forces.”

Claiming that the NCP could become the largest party if it works at a “war footing” for the remaining 12 days, Prachanda dismissed the influence of newly formed parties, saying political “storms” do not last forever. He also expressed confidence that the party’s candidate in Dolakha would secure a significant victory.
