With just 12 days remaining until the House of Representatives elections, preparations have intensified across the country. The Election Commission Nepal has stated that ballot papers and essential election materials have already been dispatched to most provinces, while final-phase transportation is underway in the remaining areas.
According to the Commission, ballot papers have reached constituencies in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Koshi provinces. Distribution is continuing regularly in Bagmati and other provinces. Ballots are also expected to be delivered to polling centers within the Kathmandu Valley in the coming days.
For the first-past-the-post system, more than 20 million ballot papers have been printed, packed, and dispatched for 165 constituencies across 77 districts. Similarly, over 20 million ballot papers have been printed for the proportional representation system.
Apart from ballot papers, most of the 51 types of essential election materials have already been transported, which the Commission says has streamlined election management.
Ballot printing was carried out in phases at Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi, in accordance with the Commission’s calendar. The printing process began in the Nepali month of Poush, and nearly 1.1 million sample ballot papers were also prepared for voter education purposes.
As the election date approaches, the Commission has emphasized that security arrangements, logistics management, and polling center preparations are being given top priority.
