Calling for collective responsibility to honor the nation’s sacrifices, President Ram Chandra Paudel has urged political parties, citizens, and all stakeholders to turn the ideals of Nepal’s martyrs into meaningful action.

In a message issued on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, President Paudel said the day should inspire everyone to work toward fulfilling the dreams of those who laid down their lives for the country’s independence, democracy, and the rights of the people. He described martyrdom as the highest form of sacrifice for the nation and its citizens.

The President paid tribute to Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, Gangalal Shrestha, along with all known and unknown martyrs who fought against feudal, autocratic, and dictatorial regimes to establish civil liberties and national sovereignty.

He noted that January 30 is observed every year to remember the martyrs’ contributions and sacrifices that transformed Nepali people into sovereign citizens. President Paudel added that the martyrs’ aspirations for lasting peace, good governance, development, and prosperity are reflected in Nepal’s federal democratic republican system, emphasizing that safeguarding and strengthening this system is the truest way to honor their legacy.
