Martyrs’ Day was observed across the country on Friday with various programs to honor the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives for democracy and national freedom.

 

The main ceremony was held at Martyrs’ Park in Lainchaur, where floral wreaths and bouquets were offered in tribute to known and unknown martyrs. The event was attended by Interim Government Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, members of the interim cabinet, and other high-ranking officials.

 

Martyrs’ Day commemorates those who sacrificed their lives during the Rana regime and subsequent movements for the establishment and restoration of democracy, including Shukraraj Shastri, Dharmabhakta Mathema, Dashrath Chand, Gangalal Shrestha and others. The country observes Martyrs’ Week from Magh 10 to 16, marking the occasion by reaffirming a collective commitment to national unity, democracy, and the ideals for which the martyrs gave their lives.
