President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that Nepal must use modern farming methods to grow more rice and reduce imports.

Giving a message on National Rice Day, he said the country should make good use of local workers and skills in agriculture. He asked everyone to support new technologies related to rice and stop the growing dependence on rice from other countries.

He also said that empty farmlands should be used again and that working hard in farming should be encouraged. His message focused on the need for Nepal to become self-reliant in rice production.

The president wished that the celebration of Rice Day would inspire people to value farming, adopt climate-friendly methods, and work for food security.

Rice Day has been celebrated every year since 2061 BS to show the importance of agriculture and improve rice farming. This year’s theme is “More Rice Production: Food Security and Self-Reliance.”

President Paudel also reminded that the Constitution gives every citizen the right to food, and increasing rice production is key to protecting that right.

He said rice is not just food in Nepal, but also part of culture, economy, and tradition. He added that it is very important to raise awareness about the effects of climate change and encourage crop variety to increase rice output.
