Movement of four-wheeled vehicles over the Sharada Barrage has been temporarily stopped after the Mahakali River’s water level rose sharply due to ongoing heavy rainfall.
DSP Sagar Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Office, said the decision was made for safety. “We stop vehicles when the river flow goes above 100,000 cusecs. Today, it reached 115,000 cusecs, so we had to halt vehicle movement,” he explained.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has also warned of more heavy rain in many parts of Sudurpaschim Province and asked people to stay alert.
