The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has announced planned power cuts in several areas of Kathmandu today.
According to the NEA, electricity supply will be temporarily disrupted in areas under the Maharajgunj Distribution Center due to ongoing work under the Kathmandu Valley Central and North Distribution System Strengthening Project.
The work includes shifting electricity lines underground in the Sheetal Niwas (President’s Office) area. Power will also be cut to install technical equipment in places where underground cabling has already been completed.
As per the notice, electricity will remain off from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in areas connected to the Panipokhari feeder. These areas include the front of Shangri-La Hotel, Lazimpat, parts of Panipokhari, Maharajgunj, and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.
Similarly, power supply will be disrupted during the same time around the President’s House, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police, and the Nepal Police Hospital.
Other affected areas include Baluwatar, Chundevi, and Panchakanya.
The NEA has apologized for the inconvenience and said that electricity may be restored earlier if the work is completed before the scheduled time.
