Jeep Accident in Kalikot Kills Three

Three people died after a jeep fell into a river in Shubhakalika Rural Municipality–4 of Kalikot on Wednesday evening.

According to Kalikot Police Chief Him Bahadur Khatri, the accident happened when a jeep (Ba 1 Ja 2898) lost control while going uphill on the Seri–Pantadi road. The vehicle rolled down about 500 meters and fell near the Tila River.

The deceased have been identified as 28-year-old Shankar Kathayat of Aathbis Municipality, Dailekh; Tekendra Shahi of Achham; and the co-driver, Nawaraj Shahi of Shubhakalika–2, Kalikot. Police said all three were working on road excavation along the Seri–Pantadi section.

Police have recovered all the bodies from the cliff and brought them to the road. Arrangements are being made to inform their families, conduct post-mortem examinations, and send the bodies to the district headquarters, Manma.

The jeep was badly damaged and is still lying on the riverbank. Police said the driver has been contacted but has not yet been questioned.

After the incident, Chief District Officer Gorkan Raj Suyal, Police Chief Khatri, and teams from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force reached the accident site.
