Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that efforts to keep the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, clean should continue as a campaign.

Speaking at the 72nd International Everest Day and World Summit of Mountaineers, he said the government is working to change laws to solve the problem of garbage on Everest.

He mentioned that a new rule is being made so that those who leave trash on Everest must clean it themselves. A bill has already been registered in the National Assembly, and suggestions are expected from concerned groups to improve it.

Prime Minister Oli stressed the importance of keeping Everest beautiful and safe. He said Sherpas carry loads up the mountain, but climbing Everest should not be taken lightly. He also warned people not to misuse drugs to climb the mountain, saying he has heard such things happen.

The program honored record-breaking climbers from Nepal and abroad. Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey and Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Karki were also present.
