A power cut at Narayani Hospital's ICU and CCU wards lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes, from 10:30 p.m. on Friday to 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. The blackout has raised serious concerns about hospital management and patient safety.
At the time, 17 patients were being treated in the ICU and CCU. Doctors and nurses continued care using mobile phone flashlights and managed to keep the situation under control.
The District Administration Office (DAO) is taking the incident seriously. It has started an internal investigation and promised strict action against anyone found responsible.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal and Parsa Police Chief Gautam Mishra held a meeting on Saturday with hospital officials, doctors, staff, electricians, and related agencies. They gave strong instructions to fix the issue quickly and prevent it from happening again.
Dhiraj Kumar Gupta, Chair of the Hospital Development Committee, said such problems will not be repeated. Acting Medical Superintendent Chitraranjan Sah said the power cut happened because of faulty wiring in the ICU and CCU.
