Top military leaders from India and Pakistan exchanged sharp remarks at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, amid rising tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan spoke firmly about Operation Sindoor, a recent military action targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He said India had drawn a clear "red line" against terrorism and warned Pakistan to take the operation as a serious message.

The comments followed India’s accusation that Pakistan-based groups were behind the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which killed 26 people. Pakistan denies any role in the attack.

In response, Pakistan’s General Sahir Shamshad Mirza called for conflict resolution, not just management. He stressed that unresolved issues, especially Kashmir, could trigger dangerous escalation. He urged both sides to move towards peace based on UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

General Mirza also warned that India's growing military support from Western nations is discouraging it from pursuing peaceful dialogue.

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, destroyed nine terror sites across Pakistan and PoK. The conflict ended on May 10 after international mediation efforts by countries like the US, UK, China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Turkiye.
