Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is confident that Nepal’s women’s football team will win their next match against Uzbekistan. He promised to fully support them throughout the game.

After returning from a trip to Spain, Prime Minister Oli spoke to the team virtually from his home in Baluwatar on Saturday. The team is now in Uzbekistan and will play their last group match after beating Sri Lanka.

He wished the players good luck, saying, “I will be with you during the match. I see your strong will to win. You must win—Nepal will win.”

He also directly told the players, “Samba and team, all the best.” The team thanked him with applause.

Oli praised the players for their hard work and said this final could be a historic moment for Nepali women’s football, which has a 40-year history.

“I admire how you make the country proud. This win could change everything for us,” he said.

Also joining the virtual meeting were Tankalal Ghising from the National Sports Council and Pankaj Bikram Nembang, President of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

President Nembang said the Prime Minister’s support has greatly boosted the team’s confidence.
