Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged all Nepalis, especially professionals, to unite in protecting the democratic republic achieved through people’s long struggle after the monarchy failed to ensure development and good governance.
Inaugurating the 5th General Convention of the Nepal Health Professional Federation, PM Oli said such organizations couldn’t exist under monarchy, but now professionals have both rights and responsibilities to serve the nation.
He acknowledged recent pro-monarchy protests on Republic Day, saying peaceful protest is a democratic right, but stressed the need to focus on good governance and progress.
PM Oli also asked people to compare changes under monarchy and democracy, and reiterated that defending the republic is a shared duty.
Highlighting health as a key priority, he urged health workers to provide affordable care and take the lead in preventing diseases, noting major progress in the sector so far.
