Prime Minister Sushila Karki has emphasized that safeguarding inclusion, social justice, and cultural and linguistic diversity is a core responsibility of the State.
Inaugurating the 26th Board Meeting of the National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities on Sunday, PM Karki praised the Foundation’s role in promoting the rights, identity, culture, and overall development of indigenous communities across Nepal. She expressed confidence that the meeting’s decisions and policy recommendations would support effective implementation of national policies and strengthen institutional performance.
The Prime Minister highlighted the need for research-based policies, protection of mother tongues, and sustainable socio-economic empowerment of indigenous groups. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policy reforms, budgetary support, and stronger coordination with development partners, civil society, and local governments to advance inclusive development.
PM Karki also reiterated the importance of fully implementing constitutional principles such as federalism, secularism, and inclusiveness, and pledged to align laws with Supreme Court directives, ILO Convention 169, and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. She noted that demands raised during the Gen Z movement, good governance, fairness, and social justice reflect the broader urgency of inclusive national development.
