Prime Minister Sushila Karki has claimed that her government has not exerted any undue pressure on government, public, or regulatory institutions.

Addressing Monday’s meeting of the National Assembly, Prime Minister Karki said the interim government’s priority on austerity has significantly curbed the misuse of state resources. She emphasized that public and regulatory bodies are functioning independently, professionally, and strictly in accordance with the law, and that positive results of this autonomy are already visible.

She stressed that all political actors must remain vigilant to ensure good governance, so that citizens are never forced to take to the streets again. Calling for unwavering commitment to the rule of law, she urged political parties not to be driven by the lure of power.

Prime Minister Karki also said the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 should be more than a routine electoral process, describing it as a starting point for a new political culture in Nepal. She informed the Assembly that candidate nominations have been completed and state resources have been fully mobilized for the election.

She assured that strong security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free election environment. According to her, most of the weapons looted during the Gen-Z uprising have already been recovered, and all security agencies have been deployed under an integrated election security plan.

The Prime Minister further stated that the government is fully committed to transparency, accountability, and reducing corruption. She informed the Assembly that preparations for a strategic anti-corruption plan and a technology-based good governance roadmap are in their final stage.

Appealing to political parties for cooperation, Prime Minister Karki called for collective efforts to ensure clean, peaceful, and credible elections.
