Bangladesh started the SAFF Women’s U-19 Championship with a strong win at Pokhara International Football Stadium on Sunday.
Bangladesh beat India 2–0, scoring both goals in the first half. Team captain Arpita Biswas gave Bangladesh the lead in the 29th minute. Alpi Akter added another goal in the 40th minute. India tried hard to fight back in the second half but could not score.
With two wins, Bangladesh now leads the points table with 6 points. India is in second place with 2 points.
The second match of the day is being played between host nation Nepal and Bhutan. Both teams are looking for their first win after losing their opening matches.
Nepal lost 1–0 to India, while Bhutan suffered a heavy 12-goal defeat against Bangladesh.
