According to Palestinian sources, at least 32 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes carried out across various parts of the Gaza Strip on Friday night and Saturday.
Gaza Civil Defence spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said the deadliest attack occurred at the Sheikh Radwan police centre in northern Gaza City, where 14 people were killed. Several police officers and civilians were buried under the rubble at the site.
Similarly, another strike on a displaced persons’ camp in Khan Younis in southern Gaza killed seven members of a single family.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation targeted Hamas commanders and weapons storage sites, describing the attacks as a response to Hamas allegedly violating the ceasefire in the Rafah area. Hamas rejected Israel’s claims as baseless and misleading, and called on the international community and the United Nations to stop what it described as brutal crimes.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, since the war began in October 2023, the number of Palestinians killed has reached 71,769, while more than 171,000 people have been injured.
