National Assembly members have given mixed feedback on Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s recent address. Lawmakers noted that the speech lacked concrete proposals, focusing instead on the challenges during her tenure and the management of upcoming elections.
National Assembly member Rajendra Laxmi Gaire said the Prime Minister acknowledged pressure from the Jen–Ji movement, as did other ministers, and highlighted efforts to curb corruption and manage elections, but offered no new measures.
Vishnu Kumari Sapkota observed that the Prime Minister expressed her struggles while navigating a crisis, and given her short remaining term, her focus on conducting elections was commendable.
Vishnu Devi Pudasaini added that while the address energized members, the quick departure of ministers posed challenges, though it was handled calmly.
Overall, the reactions reflect a balance of appreciation for Karki’s efforts in election management and recognition of the limitations of her short tenure, despite the absence of new announcements or decisions.
