The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has prepared extensive strategies for the possible deployment of ground troops in Iran.

According to CBS News, citing multiple sources, senior military commanders have developed contingency plans as President Donald Trump considers further military action amid the ongoing conflict involving the US and Israel.

While President Trump is reportedly weighing the option of deploying ground forces in the Middle East, no final decision has been made regarding when or under what conditions such forces would be used. Due to the sensitive nature of the plans, officials speaking about them remained anonymous.

Speaking to reporters at the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said he was not planning to send troops anywhere immediately. However, he added that even if such a decision were made, it would not be disclosed to the media.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the Pentagon’s primary responsibility is to provide the Commander-in-Chief with maximum military options during any crisis, emphasizing that such preparations do not mean a final decision has been taken.

The report also noted that the US military has discussed procedures for detaining Iranian military and paramilitary personnel in the event of an operation, including where and how they would be held.

Currently, the US has placed its 82nd Airborne Division, Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Global Response Force on high alert for potential deployment in the region. Thousands of Marines are already heading toward the Middle East.

Additionally, three US Navy ships carrying around 2,200 Marines have recently departed from California, marking the second such deployment since the conflict began. These moves indicate that the Pentagon is expanding military options and maintaining a high level of readiness amid escalating tensions.
